Campus Culture
Montfort Institute of Advanced Studies is proud of its eco-friendly, serene & peaceful environment.
Deeply committed to upholding the value system of Montfort, the college expects its students to conduct themselves in a worthy manner in their dress, demeanour and sense of discipline. They must be respectful of teachers and authority and uphold the professional boundaries in and out of the campus.
Students should maintain a sense of decorum and discipline at all times both inside and outside the college. Those who are guilty of serious misconduct or whose presence in the college is detrimental to the order and discipline of the institute are liable to be expelled.
Code of conduct on the campus includes safeguarding the property of the institute, keeping the place clean and tidy and dressing up decently. Students are expected to dress that reflects their profession.
The campus is strictly Alcohol and Tobacco free zone. Defacing any part of the campus or littering is treated as an offence.
General Regulations
The working day is divided into two sessions, the forenoon session of 2 periods and afternoon session of 1 period. Attendance is marked at the commencement of the class. Latecomers, therefore, though permitted to attend class by the teacher concerned, will not be given attendance.
Other Visitors to the Library may use it with a prior approval/permission from the Principal.
Attendance:
No student shall absent himself/herself from classes without the prior permission of the Coordinator/Class Mentor. Students who are absent from classes for 2 weeks or more at a stretch without the permission of the Director/Principal obtained in writing, will be considered to have left the College. Students remaining absent for more than 2 days for any reasons (personal, co/extracurricular activities) have to submit the leave form duly signed on the day they resume classes. When absence is caused by unforeseen events, application for leave must be submitted to the Director/Principal as early as possible and certainly not later than 3 days after return to the College.

Ragging means ‘Any disorderly conduct by a student by words spoken or written or by an act that has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a student’. As per the UGC Regulations (http://www.ugc.ac.in/oldpdf/ragging/Notice_raging.pdf) curbing the menace of ragging in Higher Educational Institutions is a priority. The institute is committed to upholding the same.
Depending on the nature and gravity of the offence as established by the Anti Ragging Committee of the institute, those found guilty of ragging shall be liable for Cancellation of admission and expulsion from the college and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution. In the case of offences of very serious/grievous nature, the case would be referred to the Police, in addition to any other punishment.
