M.Sc COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGY (MSCP)
Eligibility :
Completion of PGDCP.
Masters in Counseling Psychology course (MSCP) is offered by Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU). It is a Meghalaya State Private University, recognized by University Grants Commission. One can join MSCP through lateral entry after completing PGDCP. The application is to be submitted to MLCU and the initial course work is to be completed at MLCU. After that, students can return to MIAS to complete the rest of the coursework over two semesters. MIAS follows the curriculum of MLCU for MSCP, which includes research methods elective courses, specialization courses, research and practicum/internship
Aim
The M.Sc – Counselling Psychology Programme strives to train counsellors who are committed to lifelong learning, self-care and professional development, and who uphold their identity as professional counsellors; skillful in providing contextually appropriate counselling with a developmental and integrative focus, adept in collaborating with allied professionals especially in the context of being aware of their limitations, while open to challenging dominant paradigms with the goal of becoming culturally competent.
Career Prospects:
Counselling psychologists are employed in a variety of settings depending on the services they provide and the client populations they serve. Some are engaged in colleges and universities as teachers, supervisors, researchers and service providers, others are employed in independent practice, providing counselling, psychotherapy, assessment, and consultation services to individuals, families, groups, and organizations. Additional setting in which counselling psychologists practice include community mental health centres, family services, health care organizations, rehabilitation agencies and industrial organizations and consulting firms.
