POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGY (PGDCP)

This programme is designed to provide students with necessary skills and competence to assist a mental health professional. The programme seeks to familiarize the trainees with the principles that bind psychological and human developments and examines systematic treatment methods that engender cognitive, affective and behavioural changes in the participants. The goal is achieved through a curriculum designed to integrate foundational counselling skills, counselling theories and practice. This will help them gain a more personal and professional competence in various helping professions.

  • Duration     : 1  year (2 semesters)
  • Eligibility   :  Any Bachelor’s Degree

Course Work:

The course is spread over two semesters includes both theoretical and practical papers, described as core papers and allied papers. The course provides classroom training in basic theories, skills, techniques and field/practical work.
The course work consists of Theoretical Foundations, Training in Skills  and Techniques, Personal therapy,    Group Therapy, Supervised Practicum (Group & Individual) etc.

Those who complete PGDCP can avail lateral entry to the M.Sc – Counselling Psychology course.
